A Couple of Prayers

Here are two prayers I especially like.  One is Christian in nature, the other Native American.  In general, I follow Taoism.  Go figure.  In essence these prayers make the same point, about behaving with integrity.  What does behaving with integrity have to do with being psychic, you might ask?  EVERYTHING!  Read on…

MOTHER TERESA’S “DO IT ANYWAY” PRAYER

People are often, unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.  Forgive them anyway.  If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.  If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.  Be successful anyway.  If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you.  Be honest and sincere anyway.  What you spend years creating others could destroy overnight.  Create anyway.  If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.  Be happy anyway.  The good you do today will often be forgotten.  Do good anyway.  Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.  Give your best anyway.  In the final analysis it is between you and God, it was never between you and then anyway.

LAKOTA PRAYER

O Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds, and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me!  I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom.  Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes, so when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit will come to you without shame.

It doesn’t matter what you call your god.  You can say God, Allah, Yahweh, Gaia and scores of other names.  It doesn’t matter how you envision your god.  What matters is how you behave to others because whatever you call your god there is a little bit of god in all of us.
